STRESS RELEASE YOGA

Psoas (Stress) release yoga is an adaptation of the TRE (Trauma Release Exercise) model developed by Dr. David Berceli https://traumaprevention.com/ for more information.

The Psoas muscle is one of the largest muscles of the body, and it connects from the top of your femur or thighbone to the thoracic spine behind your diaphragm. On a functional level, it is a hip flexor muscle as well as a deep muscle of the core. More importantly it its a sensate muscle, hard-wired into your fight or flight system. Because we find ourselves as a society in chronic stress our Psoas muscle is exhausted and overused.

This class will consist of Yoga Postures designed to stretch and tire the Psoas muscle which enables it to illicit a release response in the way of Neurogenic tremoring that occurs following the Yoga Postures class. This tremoring is a natural response from the body to release deeply held stress and trauma, and the associated stress hormones in order for the body to return to homeostasis where the body can heal, restore and return to normal functioning.

Our class will end with Yoga Nidra:
Is your favorite part of your yoga class savasana? Have you wondered what a longer, deeper period of relaxation would feel like? What might it do for your stress levels and your health in general? Yoga nidra is a deep form of guided meditation that systematically takes you through four brainwave levels on a journey toward yogic sleep

Daisha Vaughn Esterhazy Yoga Collective
Daisha Vaughn –
Daisha has completed her Fitness Yoga Instructor training and 200hr Yoga Training. She is also working towards a Yoga Nidra certification and her Master Advanced Yoga Training certification.
Having a personal yoga practice has helped Daisha with her strength, flexibility, and ease of movement. Yoga has brought a sense of peace and mindfulness to her life.
Daisha has been teaching yoga for the last year and is looking forward to continuing that this fall. She loves teaching and sharing her passion for yoga.
Daisha’s goal is to bring happiness, confidence, mindfulness, and strength to all of her students.
Jen Blair –
Jen’s yoga journey began about 5 years ago when she signed up for a strength and stretch class with her personal trainer at the time, and Shirley.
Instantly seeing how beneficial yoga was to her physical being she noticed the mental and spiritual benefits even more.
“Yoga makes life easier to handle. When you step on the mat the world drifts away and it’s just you, the mat and the music. Yoga makes me a better wife, mother, friend and person. It really does calm my worries and help me handle how overwhelming life can be.”
As the trainer for our local football club, Jen notices how yoga reduces injury in the season and creates a sense of focus before the game for the athletes.
Jen currently has her FYI training as well as her Yoga Nidra training, and she is a personal trainer. She loves to see the benefits that yoga brings to her clientele.
She looks forward to meeting each and everyone that joins her on the mat to learn more about each other and ourselves.

Lorie Jackson –
Hi my name is Lorie and I have always been a fitness enthusiast!
I have taken my Fitness Yoga Instructor, 200hr teacher training, restorative and nidra certifications all with the lovely Shirley Berthelet. I am currently working on chair yoga with Shirley and am hoping to add psoas yoga training soon. Looking forward to a new chapter for yoga in our community!
Michelle Tochor – Michelle is a recent graduate of the FYI Training Certification (Fitness Yoga Instructor). She is excited to begin her yoga teaching journey alongside the amazing women in the Collective.
Michelle quickly learned that yoga is a consistent way to release stress, feel centred mentally and grounded physically. She strives to bring kindness, a supportive attitude, and a passion for the practise to each class she teaches. Her belief is yoga is the relationship that is built between the body, the mind and the breath. Yoga is freedom and a release. She is here to help others find this release so that they can comfortably and competently move their bodies through life.
She is very much looking forward to meeting you on the mat!

Samantha Down Esterhazy Yoga Collective
Samantha Down –
Yoga is a pathway to connecting with your inner divine self. This is the belief that Samantha holds as a way to describe her journey as an instructor. Starting to practice yoga as an adolescent helped Samantha navigate through adulthood. Taking her first certifications in FYI, 200 hr. RYT, Yoga Nidra, Restorative Yoga as well as many workshops was a step in self discovery that led to an inspiration to teach and share her own experience.
Being a mother, entrepreneur, wife, sister and leader, Yoga has been an integral tool to sustaining a model for life that works for Samantha. She is looking forward to building a challenging and centering practice with you.

If you can breathe, you can do yoga.
My classes are fun, flowing and creative with clear instruction on alignment in an easy-going environment that will help strengthen and challenge your mind body and spirit. I teach every class with my heart and intuition with the knowledge I have learnt. I understand we are all on our own journey and I am all about what feels right for you while still helping you find your edge. I am grateful and excited to have the opportunity to be able to guide you into your breath to explore, accept and release as I expand my own learning and practice.
I am a mother of three amazing boys which keeps me on my toes. Yoga allows me to honour and connect with myself while helping me stay centred as I journey through this busy life.
I started practicing yoga to help heal some injuries and have experienced the benefits first hand. I knew then that I wanted to help others release and heal too and so I started to take my teacher training and here I am 🙂 I feel like yoga found me to help me heal from the inside out.
I believe yoga can benefit everyone whatever their state, condition or ability level and my intention is to help others even if it’s in the smallest way to bring release, healing, self love and gratitude for themselves because they are worth it.
